Wolf Eyes started off in the late 90s American noise music underground and have since morphed, expanded, contracted, collaborated, and even infiltrated mainstream culture. The core lineup of the band over the last few years has revolved around Nate Young and John Olson, also known as the man behind the Inzane Johnny Instagram meme account. A band known for their prolific output and limited-run releases has made this collection, Difficult Memories, a necessity.

Difficult Messages’ 11 tracks alternate between repetitive percussive elements, drone motifs with snippets of conversations soaked in delay, twanging psychedelic guitar, and whirring spacey synthesizers, finishing with pulsing oscillations that could be an interrupted transmission from some distant alien planet. Each track is a unique collaboration originally released as private press 45s, with collaborators including Pulitzer-winning artist Raven Chacon, ex-Wolf Eyes member Aaron Dilloway, long-term Olson collaborator Gretchen Gonzales, Alex Moskos of Drainolith and AIDS Wolf
